The club birded Egypt Lane and Winsegansett Ave in Fairhaven. Mostly cloudy with a light breeze at times. Fog at Egypt Lane. High 60s to lows 70s. Eight birders present. Nearly 30 species at Egpyt Lane including great views of a Green Heron and fleeting views of the Clapper Rail. Wood Docks, Swans, and Mallards were visible in the pond along with two Black-crowned Night Herons. European Starling lined the telephone lines. As we left we watched an Osprey enjoy a fish atop of a telephone pole. Winsegansett Ave was busy with great views of migrating shorebirds (Semipalmated Plovers, Semipalmated Sandpipers, and Least Sandpipers) and a large group of Great and Snowy Egret. A few Common Eider could be seen at the end of the cove. Begging young Osprey were calling the whole time in need of fresh fish.

The club began in Rochester birding Mary's Pond. Six people in attendance. Not many birds were present at Mary's Pond, but we did see a juvenile Cowbird, which looked to be taken care of by a Song Sparrow. On the way to Myles Standish forest, we made an unplanned stop in Carver near Cape Cod Ready Mix on Route 58. To our surprise, we came across an American Kestrel, a Swamp Sparrow, and a pair of Common Raven. At the Crane Brook Bogs summer birds were in full display. Eastern Kingbird, Tree and Barn Swallows were enjoying the warm summer air actively feeding on insects. Wood Ducks and Canada Geese were in the bog ponds. We arrived at Myles Standish Forest at 7:30 p.m. We were delighted to hear our first Eastern Whip-poor-will at 8:31 p.m. We even had one fly right over our heads. Also heard were Hermit Thrush, Field Sparrow, Eastern Towhee, Pine Warbler, and Prairie Warbler.
